GUIDELINES ON SEMESTER SYSTEM

(Three Year Honours /Pass Degree Course)

College offers 10 subject combinations at UG level, 06 PG courses and 02 Professional courses. The college has adopted CBCS and is the first and only one college of the state.To develop enhance the skill of the students, Skill Based Courses are offered as one paper under sixth semester at UG level. This college is also registered under skill development scheme of state government (MMKVY).

The college has adopted Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). There are 5 credits for each paper and a total of 120 credits in B. Sc. Semester system; where as a total of 140 credits in B. Sc. Honors course. The final credits are given after passing all the six semester examination.

  1. Duration- Duration of course is of six semesters. Each semester is of six month duration.

  2. Total Marks- There will be only Honours Course of total 2800 marks, respectively.

    • General group of three subjects are compulsory for all students of Science, and Computer Application. These are

      • General English (second and third semester)

      • General Hindi (Fourth and Fifth semester)

      • Environmental Studies (First semester)

      • Skill based course (sixth semester)

      In each semester there will be only one theory paper in each elective subject. Similarly for honours courses, there will be one theory paper in each semester (semester III to VI). For honours course separate practical classes will be held round the year but the examination ( 50 marks) shall be held only in even semester (i.e. in II,IV and VI semester).

  4. Marks Pattern-

    1. Each theory course paper will be of 100 (80 external/semester end+ 20 internal) marks for non practical subjects and of 75 (60 external/ semester end+ 15 internal) marks for subjects having practical.

    2. Each practical will be of 50 marks. Practical classes will be held round the year but examination shall be held only in even semester (i.e. in II,IV and VI semester)

  5. Theory Examinations-

    Duration of theory examinations shall be of two & half hours.

  6. Practical Examinations-

    Duration of Practical Examinations shall be as suggested in course content in the syllabi.

  7. Admission Period-

    1. First semester admission should be completed within 15th July each year.

    2. Admission in other semesters i.e. 2nd,3rd,4th,5th and 6th semester should be completed within 7 days after completion of examination on provisional basis. The provisional admission to be regularized within seven days from the date of publication of results. Requests for permission for late Admission shall not be entertained.

  8. Schedule of Classes-

    1. 1st semester classes from 16th July

    2. 3rd and 5th semester classes from 2nd July.

    3. 2nd,4th and 6th semester classes from 2nd January.

    Classes shall be continued till seven days before commencement of the examination.


Guidelines for Three Year Degree Programme of Bachelor of Computer Applications (B.C.A.)


  1. The title of the programme is Bachelor of Computer Application (B.C.A.).

  2. Objectives:The objectives of the Programme shall be to provide sound academic base from which an advanced career in Computer Application can be developed. Conceptual grounding in computer usage as well as its practical software application will be provided.

  3. Eligibility for admission:

    In order to be eligible for admission to Bachelor of Computer Applications a candidate must have passed HSC (10+2) from Mathematics and English as passing Subject with minimum 40% marks in aggregate.

  4. Duration:

    The duration of the B.C.A. Degree Program shall be three years divided into six semesters.

  5. The scheme of Examinations:

    The BCA Examination will be of 2800 marks as given Below:

    1. Compulsory papers and Basic Papers: 600 marks

    2. For Theory Papers and Practical Papers: 2200 marks

  6. The Standard of Passing and Award of Class:

    In order to pass in the examination the candidate has to obtain 34% marks in theory and practicals. In each theory paper, there will be 100 marks (80 external/ end semester exam, 20 internal exam). Minimum passing marks in external shall be 28 out of 80 and internal 8 out of 20.

    The class will be awarded on the basis of aggregate marks obtained by the candidate for all three years examinations.

  7. Rules for promotion, attendance, examination schedule etc will be applicable as per general guidelines for semester system
